Programs
Junior Judo
Ages 5-12
All students between the ages of 5 and 12 will start out in our junior judo program.
Students will learn
how to fall safely (ukemi)
pins and escapes as part of their newaza (ground work) training
kuzushi (breaking opponent's balance) as well as judo throws for their tachiwaza (throwing techniques) training.
The goal is to build self confidence and a fighting spirit in our young judokas.
Participation in competition is highly encouraged for our junior judo students.
Intermediate & Adult Judo
Ages 13 and older
Students who are between 13 and 17 will start in our intermediate judo program.
Students age 18 and older will start in our adult judo program.
For new students, the focus will be on learning how to fall safely (ukemi), as well as training in newaza (pins, chokes, and escapes), kuzushi and judo throws (tachiwaza).
For students promoting up from the junior judo program, they will begin to learn how to choke. These judoka will also continue to learn and master throws as part of their tachiwaza training.
For advanced students, continual learning, training and mastery of judo techniques are the focus.
